THE MOVEMENT STUDIO - SMALL SPACE, BIG PLANS

Two young ladies with big dreams, and just over 80 square meters to start bringing them to life.

The brief? Pilates, coffee, a little shopping, and somewhere you’d want to stay after class. Quite a lot to fit into one small space. We like a challenge.

With their sights set on a studio chain, the owners wanted this first space to feel like them. Their love for sea blues gave us a starting point, and the island we call home gave us the rest. Soft blues, sandy shades and warm wood, with clean lines that let the sea do the talking.

Of course, a calming space still has a lot of work to do. Our design made room for movement, a coffee counter, merchandise, changing and toilet facilities, and a place to sit while the previous class finishes. Equipment needed a home. So did bags. And abayas deserved somewhere to hang, too. Small details, until you’re the person looking for somewhere to put your things.

The idea was to make all of that feel easy. Arrive, put your bag away, take a breath. Move a little. Stay for coffee. Look out at the sea and remember that yes, you get to do Pilates on an island.

Big plans can start in small spaces. This one just needed room to breathe.
